Incorporate BladeLogic Operations Manager with your Problem Management and Response Systems

BladeLogic Operations Manager provides a platform for managing, controlling and enforcing server configurations [Inventory, Provisioning, Configuration and Change Control, and Continual Compliance] in the data center. BladeLogic Operations Manager's Configuration Management Database (CMDB) allows users to store and manage configuration attributes for their servers and applications.

The Opalis Integration Pack for BladeLogic extends Operation Manager by automating processes for the administrator around key server management activities that typically take place during the maintenance window, such as server patching and updates, server specific audits, server baseline analysis and maintenance / repair activities derived from interaction with Service Desk and Help Desk system requests and problem reports.

Remove Routine Tasks--Automate Processes for Patch Deployment

Automating routine maintenance procedures with Opalis Integration Server allows administrators to stop spending their time on repetitive tasks and focus on more strategic projects. With the Opalis Integration Pack for BladeLogic, automating maintenance for patching servers or installing new software can be done in tandem with other system operations, such as specific sequence shutdown and restore procedures for other applications and services.

Coordinate and Consolidate Maintenance Activities between BladeLogic CMDB and Help Desk / Service Desk Systems

The Opalis Integration Pack for BladeLogic provides a simple, yet powerful mechanism for monitoring trouble tickets in service management tools (like BMC Remedy and HP Service Desk) and then initiating response actions via BladeLogic audit and configuration processes. Conversely, results of BladeLogic audit and configuration operations can pre-populated trouble tickets in these service management tools and can be used to synchronizing device CI information updated by BladeLogic in those systems' CMDBs. Change requests can also be automatically monitored for approval, causing provisioning jobs to initiate through BladeLogic and can then be automatically closed on completion.

An Automation Policy

This Policy monitors Remedy for approved change requests related to a pending BladeLogic Remediation Job. The Remediation Job is initiated and the Remedy Change Request closed. Next, a BladeLogic Audit is performed to ensure the Remediation was successful. Incidents in Remedy are updated throughout the process for ITIL compliant process tracking.
